Frequently Used Terms For New Users

Postby admin » Thu Nov 26, 2009 10:42 pm

I am starting this forum for new users who are not familar with some of the terminology that we use here at SEAL Fit. I will keep adding to this list as need arises

LSD = long slow distance
Ruck = ruck is backpack weighted as prescribed in workout
WOD = workout of the day

I will be adding to this list, sort of busy today with turkey stuff ...

I have a few questions as to terms used here, that I haven't seen at any other CF related sites. What is/are
Jingle Jangle
Sandbag drills
Burpee chaser
racked step ups

Thanks.

Hey dude, ill help you out with some of these--

Sandbag drills- great for improving "functional" strength. Mix up the exercises for the required time- cleans, lunges, squats, all forms of o/h press, and thrusters. Once you become proficient at these basic movements, try o/h lunges and o/h squats.
Burpee chaser- we usually do these after a barbell or bear complex. After performing all the required exercises/reps, finish out the round w/the same number of burpees.
Racked step ups- clean the barbell into the racked position (as though you were going to front squat) and then perform step ups on a plyo box (for reference, I use an 18" box).

Pay it forward, hope this helps. Rich

KB stands for Kettlebell and SDHP stands for Sumo Deadlift High Pull
For the kettlebell swings, most of the work we do is done with a 55# KB which is frequently referred to by Crossfit as 1.5 pood.
1 pood KB is equivalent to 35# and 2 pood KB is equivalent to 70#.
