2012
I trust you are well.I am humbled and excited at the same time by an email I received this week from an Unbeatable Mind student. I decided to include it in this communication, unedited. It is a powerful example of one of our own doing his absolute best to be strong and remain positive, while his only son struggles with (and triumphs over) cancer. Our hearts and prayers go out to both Joseph and his son for a complete recovery and long, fulfilling life together.
Joe outlines how he is using the principles taught in the Unbeatable Mind academy – those same principles that have guided SEALs through dangerous missions and now are guiding a new breed of SEALFIT warriors into the future. Here it is:
Coach Divine:
I wanted to thank you for taking the Unbeatable Mind Academy on-line, as I wanted to attend Kokoro camp last summer, but life got in the way for some time, so the UMA online became a viable option for me. I’m writing to you to share a very important recent story and how the UMA experience provided me tools through the most difficult time of my life thus far. I have experienced many challenges in my 37 years and have a pretty high tolerance level. In my short 37 years on this earth, I have experienced being a high school dad at 17 (that little girl born then is now a freshman at Chapman U. in the OC and I continue to be married to my high school sweetheart-going on 19 years), served as a Boatswain’s Mate on an Aegis Cruiser- Arabian Gulf-Mediterranean deployment veteran, Father of two who worked his way to three college degrees while working full-time, and a freestyle and collegiate wrestler/coach of 15 years. ..I never really share this, but I wanted to show how a recent event and UMA took me to another level in my life.
My life experiences have made me a stronger man due to overcoming and never quitting unique challenges. As I thought I could kick life’s ass no matter what it threw at me, I was dealt a tremendous blow the same week I joined UMA. My 11year old, only son, was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma…my world shattered and I broke as a man to a level I have never experienced…the depth of pain could only be described if experienced (similar to a deployment experience, which cannot be described unless deployed). Mark, I used UMA as a coping mechanism because both (son’s cancer and UMA) happened at the same time as new events in my life. After watching video and reading books in UMA the phenomenon of unfounded confidence and strength entered my mind, emotion, and spirit (in addition to deep prayer). I found peace in meditation, visualization, and the warrior spirit through UMA readings. I believe my experience with UMA was multiplied due to my current situation. UMA took me into a deeper, more phenomenological state, simultaneous with the pain of dealing with my son. I was cognizant of which dog I was feeding every three hours through chime reminders…very powerful.
I immediately became aware of the witness and controlled my monkey mind interdicting and redirecting negative to positive thoughts with the mantra “Fight till your last breath, we got this and we will conquer this” and aligned this positive thought with the visualization during mediation. To worry about the past is unchangeable and the future is unknown, but the present is where I can control change. I had two choices; be a victim of a monkey emotional mind that would break me and put my family into despair, or be a volunteer who will be the rock and strength for my family and son. Additionally, as a principal of a large Southern Ca. high school, life continued despite my setback and the world kept going. How would I manage it all…? The world is truly an uncontrolled, chaotic environment. To end, I became the rock of my family with an unflappable focus and resolve to get my son better with positive energy that will, will overcome this disease. This attitude was exuberated through my son who watched every minute of my actions…expressions and behavior…this gave him an unflappable resiliency to fight through chemo. I also remained highly functional at my job as principal, because I focused on the moment, and decluttered the toxins (news) of life.
Mark, three months later my son is cancer free and in remission. I will remain in UMA for the remainder of my life if I have this opportunity. The multiple experiences from everyone in UMA is the ultimate educational experience, because gaining knowledge to become a better man is invaluable to me. I have become humbled by the experience and realized you never know what life can deal you, and you better have won the battle within, so you can conquer the unforeseen future battles that will come to you from the outside. Each month I am highly motivated to see what next we will learn in UMA. Unbeatable and unbelievable program! I wanted to share this with you and tell you thank you for partaking in the on-line route. I do not know how I would have mentally and emotionally handled my son’s illness as a father without the skill sets learned from UMA. We remain confident, positive, and thankful…Joseph D.
Wow. Today I was discussing the Unbeatable Mind program with Dustin, my web guru, and we came to the conclusion that we did not want our SEALFIT community to miss the UM experience because they felt they could not afford it.
But, seriously, at $67 a month the program is only$2.23 a day, less than a cup of coffee.
If you have the Unbeatable Mind skills and attitude already, then good on you – please lead and serve alongside me. However, if you don’t and you know it, then you should be able to give up a cup of coffee or a doughnut to be able to afford the most powerful program of developing mental toughness and awareness available today.
Having said that – we felt it was only fair to allow all community members the opportunity to experience the Unbeatable Mind Academy at the same price as those who got in early at $47 a month. Please do not miss this opportunity – this offer will only be available for 7 days. We may come back and offer it again at this price, but if you are ready to roll now then don’t miss this window!
Get in here- Unbeatable Academy – Community $47 per month offer This offer is only available to the SEALFIT Community.
The foundations course is 12 months long, and we require a 3 month commitment. If you are not finding the course to your satisfaction, then you can dis-enroll after the 3 month period.
Last call for the February Academy and Kokoro Camp! Get your applications in to be part of the first HQ events of 2012!
Please note that Unbeatable Mind Platinum level students receive a 25% discount on Kokoro camp and other 2 day SEALFIT seminars, along with free attendance at the first annual Unbeatable Mind retreat. Check it out and do the math if you are hoping to do both.
Thanks for your amazing support – train hard, stay safe and have fun! –Mark Divine
